[ well. that much qi fang can understand. there's still a lot of this relationship stuff he's figuring out, but he has a pretty solid idea he doesn't want to be the reason anyone gives up anything. that's a lot of pressure on someone who doesn't really give himself enough credit on on not fucking up. ]

Does that everybody include you?

[ that's a good question. it's obvious from the way reki's eyes dim that he hasn't thought about it at all. way too many complicated thoughts and right now there isn't enough time to unpack all of them. but he does know what everyone else thinks, so. ]

Uhhhh... Yeah. Not like it's doing me any good, right?

[ qi fang shrugs, reaching up to brush some of the low-hanging fringe from reki's brow. ]

I dunno... You like it a lot. You've got friends there too, right? There's gotta be some good in that.

[ reki just frowns at him. ]

I thought you'd be happy about this. You hate it when I come home all banged up.

No, I... Trust me, seeing you banged up less is high on my list of things I like.

[ he lifts a hand to reki's cheek, thumb brushing against the apple of it. ]

I just want you to be sure, y'know?

[ reki turns his cheek into the touch, but his gaze remains fixed and resolute. ]

I'm sure I like you and I'm sure I don't wanna waste anymore of the time we've got, it's pretty simple after that.

[ maybe he's pushing too much. push too hard, and aren't you just asking for something to break? besides, decisions can always be revisited, redone. nothing's set in stone here, and despite a part of him still thinking all of this is way too good to be true, maybe he should just — let it happen. be happy about it.

so he relents with a soft sigh. relieved, to be honest, now that he lets himself feel it. he can't reach his lips as they are now, so he'll just plant a kiss atop reki's head instead. ]

[ reki smiles softly, his cheeks flaring with heat. thank god this hand is here for him to bury his face against. ]

[ this is a way better conversation. reki's mood is instantly improved, back to nothing but sunshine, and eventually he even slithers his way out of hiding to throw his arms around qi fang and pepper his jaw with kisses. ]

It's revolting, honestly.

[ that was easy. maybe not the easiest, but it was far easier to work through than he initially thought. for now he's just going to trust that this decision will work out for reki and them both. in the meantime he's going to let himself enjoy this, this little victory of them overcoming a hurdle, and the pure affection pouring out out of reki as he holds him close. ]

[ imagine, being able to stay conscious for the whole day instead of having just enough energy to fool around between naps. that alone is going to change everything. ]

[ suddenly, this feels like he's still too far away. reki wriggles his way up, until he can press his forehead against qi fang's and sink blissfully against him. ]

It wasn't an invitation for competition, [ he mutters quietly, apparently already getting a head-start on the sulking. slowly he worms his hands underneath reki's shirt, echoing that desire to be closer and closer still. ]

We'll get Chihiro and Nanaka something too, so they don't end up swiping whatever I manage to win you.

Good idea. Maybe if we get 'em chewtoys they'll stop trying to eat the furniture.

[ reki isn't sure what's better: the vibe, or getting to luxuriate under qi fang's touch like this. he makes a low, pleased little noise in the pit of his throat, but he's back up again in a second, kinetic as ever. ]

We could kiss on the ferris wheel. Isn't that a thing?

[ how can he possibly stop the cheesy grin that spreads across his lips when reki is being this cute? ]

Yeah, that's a thing. [ he lifts a hand to start tucking errant strands out of reki's face, behind his ear. ] We can do whatever you want, man. The whole day can be ours.

[ reki's grinning too, but his has a little more spice to it. ]

What about blowjobs on the ferris wheel? Is that a thing?

[ yeah, qi fang knew it was coming. how could he not, by now? ]

[ all this has reki thinking, though, idly toying with qi fang's hair as he considers just how long it's been since he's done something like this—anything like this. ]

Y'know, it's been a long time since I've gone out and done shit with anyone my own age. Kinda makes me wonder what else I've been missin' out on.

[ it's a sobering thought, if only because it just reminds qi fang how much more he still has to learn about reki. without realizing, his hand stands moving in slow, comforting circles against reki's back. ]

To be honest, it's probably all boring as fuck compared to what you're used to... but you got me to do that stuff with now. We'll do it all, huh? Whatever you want.

[ yeah, reki's had his suspicions that most other teenagers are just bored most of the time. but now it's different; qi fang makes things like walking fun when it's never, ever been before. ]

[ alright, well. qi fang has to laugh at that. it's such an absurd thing to fathom, that a teenager wouldn't know what teenagers do. but he gets it, he thinks. if anything, it makes him more endeared to the other. ]

Honestly? I dunno if we do much. It's mostly just hanging out, killing time. Getting into trouble cuz we can't help ourselves. Trying to get lucky where we can.

[ he pauses, thinking about it. ]

[ trust that reki turns bright red at that laugh. retaliation comes in the form of pinched cheeks; it is kinda funny, probably, so qi fang will get off easy on this grave betrayal. ]

Yeah, I mean... you don't have to do stuff just cuz you think you have to.

Kinda. The team has a designated dude who begs me to come to games sometimes, but I don't go to practice or anything.

[ it's just kind of a deal that worked out. he needs the credits, they pretend he shows up, and he's there when that one guy asks hard enough. that guy whose name reki doesn't even know, he realizes. ]

But it'd be easier for us, right? If I was more... normal.

[ qi fang's brows furrow, and he pushes himself up on his elbows so he can better see reki. ]

What does that even mean? Normal? Easier? [ all of it, everything reki just said. ] Easier how? Are we struggling right now?
