[ all this has reki thinking, though, idly toying with qi fang's hair as he considers just how long it's been since he's done something like this—anything like this. ]

Y'know, it's been a long time since I've gone out and done shit with anyone my own age. Kinda makes me wonder what else I've been missin' out on.

[ it's a sobering thought, if only because it just reminds qi fang how much more he still has to learn about reki. without realizing, his hand stands moving in slow, comforting circles against reki's back. ]

To be honest, it's probably all boring as fuck compared to what you're used to... but you got me to do that stuff with now. We'll do it all, huh? Whatever you want.

[ yeah, reki's had his suspicions that most other teenagers are just bored most of the time. but now it's different; qi fang makes things like walking fun when it's never, ever been before. ]

[ alright, well. qi fang has to laugh at that. it's such an absurd thing to fathom, that a teenager wouldn't know what teenagers do. but he gets it, he thinks. if anything, it makes him more endeared to the other. ]

Honestly? I dunno if we do much. It's mostly just hanging out, killing time. Getting into trouble cuz we can't help ourselves. Trying to get lucky where we can.

[ he pauses, thinking about it. ]

[ trust that reki turns bright red at that laugh. retaliation comes in the form of pinched cheeks; it is kinda funny, probably, so qi fang will get off easy on this grave betrayal. ]

Kinda. The team has a designated dude who begs me to come to games sometimes, but I don't go to practice or anything.

[ it's just kind of a deal that worked out. he needs the credits, they pretend he shows up, and he's there when that one guy asks hard enough. that guy whose name reki doesn't even know, he realizes. ]

But it'd be easier for us, right? If I was more... normal.

[ qi fang's brows furrow, and he pushes himself up on his elbows so he can better see reki. ]

What does that even mean? Normal? Easier? [ all of it, everything reki just said. ] Easier how? Are we struggling right now?

[ that's so many questions and reki isn't even sure what he was trying to say in the first place. he crosses his arms over qi fang's chest and leans his weight into them, trying to wrestle him back down. ]

It's just a question. I dunno what it's like for you to date me, but if there's things I can do to make it easier, why not?

[ he sighs, feeling only slightly bashful that his reaction seems to be a bit over the top. he can't help it though; it may be second nature for reki to talk down on himself, but qi fang isn't used to it, nor does he want to be. ]

[ it's nice to have someone who reacts strongly to things; it puts them both on the same page and feels more comfortable, familiar even. still not a valid excuse to escape any ribbing in THIS house, though. ]

[ he leans in closer, brows knitting. ]

[ reki flicks his hand, but the booping isn't what's making his cheeks turn red. his eyes shift, like he's searching for a lifeline—or possibly a window to slip out of. ]

[ it's funny how much you can go through with a person and still be completely uncomfortable talking about your feelings. ]

[ it's especially funny considering how gross they were just being with each other not more than ten minutes ago. ]

[ but if reki does that, then there'll hardly be any room between them, which means where else will qi fang's lips go by practically all over reki's face, kisses so messy that pillow topples over almost instantly.

he's only interrupted by a sudden jolt, the vibration from the phone in his back pocket catching him off-guard. he ignores it for now, figuring it's just sun jing sending him pictures again of qiu tong being cute. he remembers telling her before how weird it was but. well. now he kinda gets it. ]

[ reki unleashes a litany of skeeved-to-death noises, but surprisingly can't seem to find the strength to fight him off. strange how that works out. he pauses the playful back and forth, though, hearing the phone go off, but only to grab for qi fang's hands. ]
