[ god-willing. reki isn't sure what he'll do if shadow gets on qi fang's case again, but he does know whatever it is, it'll lead to another big talk he doesn't wanna have. no thank you. ]

Anyway, he's harmless. Don't worry about him.

[ qi fang has his doubts, but he'll defer to reki's expertise here. he's only been to crazy rock once, after all, and though he learned a lot from it he knows better than to think he's seen more than just the tip of that iceberg. ]

What's wrong?

[ reki flashes him the most menacing of grins. ]

You intimidated by the one human man who's actually taller than you?

Fuck you, first of all.

[ he sniffs, but it's hard to conjure up an image of supreme masculinity when he's literally being tugged around on a skateboard. ]

And second, it's the eyes. He's got crazy ones. Or maybe it's just the way the facepaint reflects on them off the streetlights. Either way my gut says not to trust him.

[ reki earned this moment of almost laughing himself off balance. all those height jokes had to come back to him somewhere. luckily, he manages to dodge both a curb and a passing vehicle, but— ]

Oh shit, hold on, babe.

[ his grip tightens around qi fang's hand as he reaches out for the very car that nearly creamed him. he manages to hook his fingers into a notch in the bumper, casting a glance over his shoulder to make sure his ridealong made it all right. ]

[ he does, in fact, manage to hold on, but it's anyone's guess how. clearly the skating gods are smiling down on him, but only just barely, because he definitely teeters and totters and wobbles the first handful of seconds there.

just to be safe, he holds onto reki with both hands now. ]

Little more warning next time maybe...

[ see? everything worked out okay! and bonus: reki looks like he's having the best time ever, his eyes alight with that particularly manic brand of excitement that always comes around when he's doing dumb shit on four wheels. ]

Oh, yeah. Next time I'll ask 'em to pull over.

[ but can qi fang really complain? they're getting where they need to be a lot faster, meaning they'll be done with the delivery sooner rather than later. the cool night breeze whipping about his face is actually pretty pleasant, shaking off the last few remnants of fatigue on his limbs. ]

[ trust that'd kill with a different audience. ]

Heads up. Our stop's comin' up.

[ there's his warning. about a half a second more of it before reki's peeling off the bumper and leading them across the road, narrowly juking a fatal encounter with a horn-blaring hatchback. all the more reason to just keep it moving to the back alley behind dope sketch, where he can swerve to a stop and dig out his keys, grasping on to qi fang's arm with his other hand in the event that his landing isn't half as smooth. ]

[ see, that just sounds like a masturbation euphemism to him.

but, no, he does not in fact land half as smooth, or even a quarter as smooth. he thinks to hop off his board the second reki stops, stumbling sideways then forward till he nearly collides with a wall. his poor board keeps going, meeting its end against a conveniently placed streetlamp where it teeters onto its side and falls over pathetically.

qi fang leans his shoulder against the wall, huffing. ]

It's a good thing you aren't into me for my skating skills.

[ aw, he's learning.

not how to skate, though. somehow. but that's okay. ]

Every badass needs a bitch, babe.

[ and like a good badass, reki opens the door up and holds it for him, grinning. ]

Gee thanks, babe.

[ purely to remind them both who is still stronger and thus obviously the cooler!! one here, qi fang reaches for reki and shoves him inside first, following quickly after with both arms wrapping snug around his waist from behind. qi fang drops a quick, sharp bite to the crook where neck meets shoulder, penguin-walking them both further into the unlit shop. hopefully they don't knock into anything... ]

Get off me I can't stand you!!

[ obviously, qi fang's just lucky he's not in the mood to fight, resigning himself to his waddling fate with a sigh as his head tilts and his shoulder hitches around the bite. he does what he can in the gloom, but that doesn't stop them from disrupting a fluttering display of vinyls before he finds the switch. luckily, no casualties are claimed in the process.

then he bumps his ass hard against qi fang, trying to wriggle himself free as he digs through the desk drawer. ]

Make yourself useful, at least. Grab us some helmets from the stockroom.

[ qi fang doesn't even bother to tamper down his snickering, feeling immediately smug and validated. not even that gut-check is stopping his high, grin wide as he obediently ducks into the stockroom to fish out two helmets. he may or may not get one for reki that purposefully clashes with his hair. ]

I thought I was just here to be moral support.

[ helmets in hand, he makes his way back into the store proper but winds up getting distracted by a familiar wall. ]

Aww, remember our first fuck? Your ass was so fucking juicy.

[ reki's got everything he needs, shoving the documentation deep down in his pockets, triple-checking this time to make sure the right board is nestled in its case. he does spare a glance at the wall qi fang's talking about though, his brow lifting. ]

Yeah. Kinda cursed to remember it all day long anymore.

[ not that he's complaining. on the contrary, he makes sure to bend over nice and slow and with a bit more sway than is absolutely necessary as he hefts the deck up into his arms. he has the nerve to add: ]

Stop getting distracted. Let's get outta here.

[ yeah, qi fang looks over just in time to see that beautiful bend, his expression darkening for more than one reason. ]

Brat. You know what you're doing.

[ he gives aforementioned juicy ass a little smack with one of the helmets, because he and reki both know that it's totally warranted. but he's not exactly eager to drag this errand any longer than it absolutely needs to be, not when the alternative is laying nice and cozy in reki's arms as they both drift off to some well-deserved sleep. he's following along after instinctively glancing around to make sure neither of them left anything (not that they'd come in with anything other than their boards) before following reki right back out. ]

Ow! I'm working, asshole.

[ oh, the drama. reki snatches that helmet—rolling his eyes at the color—and bumps qi fang on their way out the door. the picture of maturity, these two.

once the door's locked up again, he fishes another set of keys out of his pocket and leashes the deck bag over qi fang's shoulder with an overly-saccharine thanks, babe. the shop bike is just around the corner, and he drops into the seat, gesturing for qi fang to slide in behind him as he turns the key. ]

Yeah, and you're doing great, sweetie.

[ though that begs the question: is qi fang getting a cut of his pay since he's helping? asshole minds want to know!

of course he isn't here to cause trouble, no no that's counter-productive when they both would clearly rather be home. but it's his duty as a boyfriend to be kind of a pain, isn't it? hence why he slumps all over reki once he mounts the bike, pressing up real close and putting his full weight on him with a heavy sigh. ]

Midnight stroll on a bike to an underground skate club. My boyfriend's so romantic.

Yeah. I am.

[ qi fang's first warning will be that smug note in his tone, the restless revving of the engine. ]

Hold on tight, babe.

[ because they're going to come tearing out of the alley like it's going out of style. for such a little machine, this bike has some kick to it, and that first taste of speed was only ever going to set off that intrinsic part of him that needs to go faster, harder, no matter how many sedans they have to swerve along the way. with qi fang clinging to his back, honestly, this can't get anymore romantic—for reki, at least. ]

[ things qi fang should have expected: this. trust reki would retaliate in his own way, but honestly who's even keeping score anymore. with nothing but a sharp yelp and tight grip from qi fang, reki can definitely consider this a huge win anyway.

he tucks his chin over reki's shoulder, gritting his teeth against the cool night air that whips about his face. still, he can't complain, knowing chasing thrills and speeds is when reki is in his element.

so what else is a good boyfriend to do but encourage it? turning his head, he makes sure to breath hot against the shell of reki's ear. ]

Faster.

[ he'll emphasize his point with a sharp nibble to the lobe of that ear, tugging. ]

[ nevermind. this is romance: qi fang's voice in his ear and teeth in his skin and the world a crazy blur all around them. it's probably not the best idea to divert any of his attention when every obstacle in their path can be counted as a near miss, but reki wouldn't have it any other way, his grin as wide as it can go and his eyes alight with the thrill of it all. he has no choice but to do exactly as qi fang asks, not that he'd be able to stop himself anyway—not that he has a choice when the sound of sirens cuts through the night, wailing louder and louder behind them.

time for a detour then. he trusts that by now qi fang gets that holding on for dear life isn't optional, the bike drifting on its rear tire as he cuts a quick turn and thunders off into a narrow alley. it's a real kick now, weaving through dumpsters and crates, sparing just a shred of his attention to glance over his shoulder. ]

Havin' fun yet?

[ he's not nearly as reckless as reki, but qi fang can be known to toe the line from time to time. it's likely not a good idea to let his hands wander over reki's torso and lap either but he's still doing that anyway. the sirens are kind of a mood killer, though, as qi fang is made to suddenly think of his parents and their reaction to their son getting jailed for a midnight joyride. ]

Oh yeah, loads. If I throw up on you just know it's nothing personal.

Nah, but you're on laundry duty.

[ mercifully, they don't have too much farther to go, making record speed like they are. all those sirens and flashing lights cut short once reki swerves on to that rough dirt road that leads up the mountain and flicks on the brights to account for the sudden darkness that engulfs them. for the first time, he has to slow down a bit to manage all the skaters bursting out into the road in front of them, which just seems to bring all that hype up to a head. ]

Fuck, this is a wild crowd. Wonder who's skating tonight.

[ it's only his second time, but qi fang wonders if he'll ever get used to it. he's at least a lot more awake this time around, and definitely a lot more prepared. the energy is palpable and damn near infectious, especially the closer they get towards the gates. there crowd is thicker there too, all abuzz with excitement. even if qi fang is a stranger to all this, even he can tell that tonight's a pretty big deal. cheers have already started to erupt, the crowd just getting more and more hype. ]

Hopefully not whoever we're here for. Looks like we're late.

Don't think so.

[ despite the utter rush that is being a part of such a big, wild crowd, more people means more people reki doesn't know. he spares a hand to slide it over qi fang's thigh, squeezing gently. ]

[ that's all he's really got time to say before the man at the gate is asking for their badges and waving them through. then he's gotta drag that hand away to fish around in his pocket for his phone, frowning at the screen. ]
