[ by the time reki's gotten to his seat in homeroom, it feels like the night before was all just some sort of hazy, surreal dream. a lot's happened since then; for one, his arm is bandaged all the way up to the elbow, compliments of a gnarly gash he got bailing straight into a cluster of jagged rocks, he's probably killed off half the brain cells he's got left skidding on his face, and the unfathomable weight of last night's loss is heavy on his mind. kinda hard to think about anything else when he can still hear his skateboard crackling beneath the flames. fuckin' sucks, man.

it takes awhile for him to zone back into reality. really, it's less of a zone and more of a jolt, when the gaggle of jeering students crowding around him start to dissipate and he notices qi fang with a start. fuck, he forgot all about those english notes. even worse, qi fang looks so good, fresh-faced and distractingly handsome. reki, on the other hand, looks like he stayed up til the early hours of the morning getting stitched up in the ER and barely slid into class in time for the bell in yesterday's wrinkled clothes. embarrassing.

whatever. he has until lunch to think up a good excuse for why he can't return those notes yet. instead, of course, he sleeps straight through all of his classes and sleep-walks up the stairs to the roof, flopping into his usual spot against the fence, debating whether or not he even wants to be awake to eat. a nap in the sun sounds a lot better, so he pulls his hoodie up and leans his head back against the chain links, letting his eyes drift shut slowly. ]

[ the gesture earns reki an immediate response — a low, melting groan against his neck that seems to travel right down qi fang's spine. he breathes in deep, breathes in reki, doesn't think as he says, ]

[ reki crosses his arms over his chest, sulking, as he slips off of the edge of the table. there's a heavy toolbox beneath it that he screeches across the floor with his good hand, flipping the latches to reveal just a fucking hospital's worth of first aid supplies. there's a rag he throws to qi fang, clean but stained with various suspect colors, another one he absently starts to pat himself down with, and then he's looking down at his arm, considering. the wrappings are borked and soaked through with sweat and god knows what else from today. that'll have to be next. ]

[ qi fang catches the rag with his face (thanks for that) whether reki actually meant to aim for it or not, his own clean up consisting of a roll of his eyes and a few quick wipes with the practiced air of a teenager who's definitely had experience giving into his hormones. it's balled up and cast aside once he's finished, only to be replaced by the aforementioned boxers. this he tosses back at reki's face because fair's fair.

cleaned up and fully dressed (only a little bit sticky and sweaty), he comes to crouch beside reki and look both the toolbox and arm over. his eyes linger on the copious amount of first aid. ]

You fall down a lot, huh.

[ this would mean war if reki wasn't laughing too hard not to catch the boxers flung into his face. then it's just sort of karma, and what are you gonna do? put your boxers on like a man and curl up next to the toolbox, that's what. he tears at the velcro on his wrap with his teeth and starts unraveling. ]

[ he pauses before he can get the wrap undone, eyeing qi fang skeptically. ]

[ it feels a little surreal to be having this conversation right now. then again he thinks any conversation right now would feel surreal that isn't "hey so sorry i accidentally came inside you but also maybe not so sorry also when can i do it again." he endeavors to take his cue from reki, considering he's the one who had to clean up all that come anyway... ]

[ if they end up having that conversation after reki's masterful pizza diversion, he'll fucking scream. the better scenario is that they just never speak about it, ever. reki's fairly certain he'd promptly die on the spot otherwise.

qi fang doesn't have to dig too much to find a tube of antibiotic, which he hands to the other with a wry look. ]

[ "gnarly" is definitely one way to put it. of course, in the context of all the skate stuff around him, qi fang can at least put two and two that this happened on reki's skate home the night before but... he can't recall seeing a path so treacherous as to give reki injuries to this extent on their way over. weird. ]

[ obviously, best case scenario is they just banter themselves into a lifetime of fucking and coming into various holes without ever exchanging a single word about it. like this, this is perfect, qi fang chilling by his side while he tends a wound he can never in a million years explain. who needs clarity when you're too terrified to trust anyone? ]
