[ by the time reki's gotten to his seat in homeroom, it feels like the night before was all just some sort of hazy, surreal dream. a lot's happened since then; for one, his arm is bandaged all the way up to the elbow, compliments of a gnarly gash he got bailing straight into a cluster of jagged rocks, he's probably killed off half the brain cells he's got left skidding on his face, and the unfathomable weight of last night's loss is heavy on his mind. kinda hard to think about anything else when he can still hear his skateboard crackling beneath the flames. fuckin' sucks, man.

it takes awhile for him to zone back into reality. really, it's less of a zone and more of a jolt, when the gaggle of jeering students crowding around him start to dissipate and he notices qi fang with a start. fuck, he forgot all about those english notes. even worse, qi fang looks so good, fresh-faced and distractingly handsome. reki, on the other hand, looks like he stayed up til the early hours of the morning getting stitched up in the ER and barely slid into class in time for the bell in yesterday's wrinkled clothes. embarrassing.

whatever. he has until lunch to think up a good excuse for why he can't return those notes yet. instead, of course, he sleeps straight through all of his classes and sleep-walks up the stairs to the roof, flopping into his usual spot against the fence, debating whether or not he even wants to be awake to eat. a nap in the sun sounds a lot better, so he pulls his hoodie up and leans his head back against the chain links, letting his eyes drift shut slowly. ]

I mean, I don't know shit about it, so you'll probably still look really impressive to me.

[ reki arches a brow as he retrieves his pants and shakes them free of sawdust. or, mostly free. he's more interested in that nap, honestly. ]

[ reki quickly turns around to adjust himself back into family-friendly order, which is a good excuse to hide the way his face has turned blood fucking red. now if he can just avoid qi fang seeing him like this for the rest of however long he'll be here, he'll be golden. ]

[ the low snicker from behind reki should be all the boy needs to know that even if qi fang can't see his blush, he can definitely tell it's there. it only makes him grin wider, has his propelling himself off the bench so he can swing another slap on that ass before he keeps pace and follows along. ]

[ reki throws open the door to the shed, shoves qi fang back as far as he can, then slips through and slams the door shut, leaning against the other side. it's fine, soon he'll fucking die and qi fang can escape then. ]

[ qi fang's laughter can probably be heard even in the house. he pounds a fist against the wood, probably right next to reki's head. ]

You can't run from the truth!

[ he does feel bad, though. like, it was funny for four seconds, but then he's creaking the door open and peeking inside. ]

You learn your lesson yet?

[ barely a second passes before reki will feel an assault on his lips — a quick peck stolen like some kind of prize, and then qi fang is pulling back, just as sudden as he'd attacked. ]

[ then he'd reaching for the door and shoving it open while his other hand comes up to shove at reki's face, just enough to get him to stumble back and back off. qi fang steps out after literally bulldozing his way past, calmly dusting himself off. ]

[ that's the surefireingest way to earn yourself a feral little growl. considering the noises coming out of reki, really, qi fang oughtta be prepared for what happens next. ]

That's not all it means.

[ and then he's pouncing. and clinging like an octopus, wrapping his arms around qi fang's neck and his legs around his waist—familiar—ready for whichever contingency fate has in store for them. either they both go down or qi fang has to deal with this now. ]

[ okay so. he hadn't been expecting that. should he have? probably, definitely. but he was well on his way to walking back into the house and now he's lurching forward, stumbling several steps under the sudden weight of one bonafide grade a brat. ]

[ he doesn't crumple, amazingly, and instead bends over, till reki's nearly parallel to the ground, and then he heaves himself back upright so he can stomp a few steps forward and penguin-walk them towards the house. he's grabbed at one arm around his neck, the other gripping a thigh clenched around his hip, teeth grit. ]

[ trust that reki would be swooning over how strong he is right now—if he wasn't hysterically fucking sent. kind of hard to appreciate anything when you're laugh-sobbing and trying to hold on for dear life at the same time. ]

[ he whisks his fingers against a tickly-looking spot on qi fang's neck. ]
