[ he can't even be mad—after all, reki's the one who drugged him. rather, he's glad to see qi fang's eyes slip shut, all tension gone as his body finally gets the rest it needs, the soft sounds of his slumber compelling him smile even harder. he lingers for a little while, petting his hair and watching him breathe, nuzzling into his ear to whisper, ] I love you.

[ then he supposes that it's time to carefully extricate himself from the bed, time to put away the food for tomorrow and finish that fight with his mother. just now everything doesn't seem so bleak and exhausting and impossible, and he's still smiling as he puts the tray back together and slips out of the room. ]

[ it's a dreamless sleep, mercifully quiet and deep. he doesn't wake at all during the night, moving only when another body joins him on the bed, curling around that warmth instinctively but otherwise still out like a light. it's well into the morning when the drug finally lets go of him, and he blinks the first few traces of consciousness to see a field of bright red. he blinks again a couple of times, thinking something's wrong with his vision, but that flaming wheat is actually just a messy head of hair and once he realizes that he smiles, settling back down into his lazy embrace. he can feel his phone in his pocket, digging into his hip. he's sure his mom had left him a number of texts wondering where he was, but that's a problem for his future self. right now he'll just smack his lips a couple of times, tasting the lingering medicine still on his tongue, and croak out a rough, ] 'Morning.

[ ugh, not waking up. in his dreams, it's warm and soft and quiet—everything beyond that seems so harsh and complicated. without opening his eyes or interrupting the good subconscious vibes he has going, he slips a hand over qi fang's mouth and shakes his head slowly. the message should be pretty clear. after that, the only excuse either of them have to move at all is reki nuzzling deeper into the warmth between them, shivering until he can bury his leg between both of qi fang's and soak up the heat there too. ]

[ ah, well. fair enough. it's not like qi fang knows exactly when reki had gone to bed, nor is he in any particular rush to get up either. he smiles behind that hand and presses a wet kiss there before rearranging his arms to better wrap around the body cuddling in even closer to him. one hand starts to idly rub up and down along reki's back, soothing to himself just as much as he hopes it is for reki. he still feels like he's radiating heat from all fronts, but his mind is more at ease, and he doesn't feel nearly as sluggish as he had before. a couple more hours of sleep should do him just fine, right...? ]

[ that's much better. he makes a soft noise of approval before his breathing begins to slow again, his hand dropping to slowly scritch against qi fang's chest until that motion, too, is consumed by sleep. he's even beginning to dream again, the ping of his cell consumed by the silence of sleep, though the next one cuts through the quiet—and the next, and the next one after that, until the air is full of electronic chirps. ]

Fuck, [ he grumbles, dreaming vividly of silencing his phone, then disassembling it when the racket won't stop. none of his dream efforts work, surprisingly, so he ends up blinking himself awake, rummaging through his pocket to finally mute those incessant pings. while he does that, he reaches out to qi fang's forehead, feeling with his palm, and then his wrist. ]

[ it's pretty damn adorable how good reki is at this — not the phone thing, but the nurturing thing. qi fang had witnessed it multiple times as reki dealt with his various siblings, but to be on the receiving end of it this time does some weird, fluttery things to his chest that he's only a little ashamed of... and only because it gives him thoughts like wishing he were sick more often just so he can experience it some more.

as far as his temperature goes, he's definitely not burning up like he was. warm still, for sure, but it's clear he's well on his way to recovery.

he noses around reki's hand so he can press a kiss or two to that wrist, but his eyes can't help but dip curiously towards the phone. ]

Work?

Yeah.

[ reki's attention isn't on his phone, it's on those little kisses qi fang is spreading over his wrist. now that he's "awake," or at least conscious enough to keep himself mostly upright, he's much more aware of how thankful he ought to be for the return of these sweet gestures. ]

New kid is gonna take over deliveries. No more late-ass nights. But he—texts—like—this...

[ you know the type. reki turns his phone over anyway to show qi fang the wall of single syllable texts he's received. ]

Anyway, you must be starving.

[ qi fang blinks at the phone screen and makes a face, leaning back as if it might somehow be contagious. still, his theatrics are short-lived because that bit of news has got to be one of the best things he's heard all week (you know... while he was conscious 😒). it makes him snuggle up even closer to reki, putting virtually no distance between them now. ]

Mm, yeah... but I'm too comfortable to move.

[ especially not now, when he can fully appreciate that thigh between his. fortune's smiled down on him mercifully and left him without morning wood this time around, but that doesn't mean he isn't taking the time to appreciate the slight pressure there, squeezing his legs to draw that thigh further up. ]

[ reki giggles against him as he bangs out a text and shoves his phone back into his pocket—silenced this time. the world can wait while he takes care of this still sick boy in his bed, snuggling in closer til he's almost smiling right up against his lips. ]

You don't have to move. That's the beauty of being sick. You get me, waiting on you hand and foot.

[ except he's trapped between qi fang's squeezing thighs, which is okay too. he lifts his leg just a little to toy with the pressure there, with the intensity of it, because imagine leaving fortune well enough alone. ]

[ his eyes are closed, so he's not sure which part of reki his face is pressed up into, but regardless the other boy should be able to feel how wide his grin gets, satisfied and maybe even a little smug. ]

Shit, maybe I should get sick more.

[ especially if he gets attention like this, the purposeful way reki lifts that thigh up against him hitting all the right spots to encourage his sleepy body to react, and enthusiastically at that. it draws out a low groan from him, hips giving a lazy rock into the pressure. still, his movements are languid, more and idle chase of pleasure than anything insistent. ]

Don't do that.

[ reki pouts, letting qi fang ride his thigh for a bit while he brushes back his hair and presses soft kisses against the heated skin of his throat. food and a shower and another shot of medicine, he thinks, will set him just right. unfortunately, that means he's slipping away before long, leaving just those fingers in his hair. ]

I don't like my man suffering, even though he looks real cute.

[ and then ughhhhh it's time to get up. he wavers on the edge of the bed for a second, rubbing at his eyes. ]

How's your throat? Think you can manage toast?

Who's suffering? Not me, I got a hottie nursing me back to health.

[ though he definitely pouts and whines a little when reki draws away, clinging onto the other's shirt until that, too, slips out of his grasp. he's rumpled and flushed from the fever, hair a mess that definitely befits the "mophead" nickname his best friend oh so lovingly dubbed him with, but despite all that his eyes are sharp, watching reki's every move. ]

Toast works. If that miso's still around, I'll down that too.

[ reki theatrically mimics those whines right back, but he's not above pausing to stroke through qi fang's messy hair and fuss over him for a good second. ]

Don't worry, I'm... [ he yawns, retracting his hand so he can rub at his watery eyes. ] Gonna do a whole thing. My penance for you being a rat fuckin' bastard.

[ he's less mad about it now, but waking up to cook for his whole family isn't the worst outcome. they still got their impromptu sleepover last night, even though reki can sense they're not gonna be getting away with murder all the time for much longer. ]

Oh... Okay, now I'm a little sorry.

[ he shifts in bed a little, reaching to twine their fingers together in a loose grip. ]

Do you have to go now? Maybe you should rest a little more.

It's fine. I get why you did it.

[ he squeezes qi fang's hand reassuringly. ]

Just don't ever do it again. Anyway, you need another dose. Might as well get up now.

[ qi fang looks away, half out of guilt and half because he doesn't think he can quite make that promise. if he had to, he'd definitely do it again, just to make sure reki is okay. but the hope is he won't have to leave him next time. ]

How mad is your mom gonna be? I should mentally prepare.

[ he slides out of bed slowly, wincing as some ache settles back in his body. he still feels better than before, but now without the distraction of a fight or intense conversation, all he can really notice now is every little symptom. ]

[ that's about the response he expected, so no surprise there. what does get him tensing and reaching out is qi fang moving on the bed. his fingers grasp into the back of qi fang's shirt, pulling. ]

She's not mad at you, dude. The hell are you going?

[ he wobbles in place even though reki hadn't even pulled him back that hard. ]

I was gonna go out with you... I mean obviously I can't help, but. [ he shrugs, looking a little helpless all rumpled from sleep. ] Feels wrong to send you out there alone when I technically got you in trouble.

No you're not. I'm not doing all this so you can run yourself down standing around for no reason before you're even over it.

[ now he's pulling hard. ]

I'm fine. Ma and I talked last night and it's fine.

[ he sits back down on the bed with a heavy flop, immediately tipping over till he's leaning on reki. he sighs, eyes slipping shut before he can even help himself. ]

I'll get out of your hairs after breakfast. Probably overstayed my welcome hours ago.

[ reki reaches for him automatically, his arms winding tightly around his shoulders. ]

The hell are you talking about?

[ he sinks a little deeper into reki's embrace, finding it even harder now to stick to his guns because of how welcoming it feels. ]

C'mon man... I'm literally just a burden to you now. I'll just be in the way. It's fine — I can just sleep the rest of this off at home.

[ that takes reki a second to process. but then he's snickering, nuzzling into qi fang's messy hair as his arms squeeze tightly. ]

You're being so dumb right now. You're mine to take care of, and I'm taking care of you. If you go, you're infringing on my basic boyfriend rights and I'll never forgive you.

[ he scrunches up his nose, making a low sound again that sounds dangerously close to a whine, and turns his head in till he's essentially nuzzling down into reki's shoulder. ]

You're making it real hard to try and be considerate here... If I stay I'm just gonna want more kisses.

Hm. I should probably tell you...

[ this is better. it's still not laying down, but at least it's a form of rest and reki can stroke through his hair and brush his lips against the shell of qi fang's ear. ]

I kinda like kissing you.
